Anderson Bissoon
Faculty of Food and Agriculture (FFA)
I’m learning a lot. There are things we think we know about agriculture, but we don’t know the ‘why and the how’. UWI has taught me those things and now I have a greater appreciation for agriculture. It has broadened my way of thinking about food security. I think we are trying to pick ourselves up from a bad place, and the solution for that is the new generation of farmers as young entrepreneurs.

The best part of UWI for me is that we get to interact with people from various cultures, different backgrounds, you get to gain perspectives on the world and different ways of seeing things. I plan to change the game by becoming a physician that showcases care and empathy towards my patients in a way that they know they aren’t just statistics to us, but they know that they are actually people that we care about on an individual level.

Faculty of Law (FOL)
In doing research on the Faculty of Law, I realised that the lecturers here were as qualified and competent as lecturers at other institutions. Some lecturers sit on the World Intellectual Property Commission, the United Nations Human Rights Committee, have represented us at the International Criminal Court, have advised and drafted constitutions for more than 20 governments across the world and have gone on to establish legal aid clinics across the world and thrive in academia.

Trinidad and Tobago needs change-makers, people that are not self-absorbed. We are facing so many issues in Trinidad and Tobago. How are you going to make a difference if you don't know what the issues are?

Faculty of Humanities and Education (FHE)
At the Film Programme, you felt like you were home. The fact that it is a family, not just a learning institute makes the difference. If you want to get into the arts, don't let anyone discourage you.
Ambika Jadoonan
Faculty of Engineering (FOE)
During my Engineering internship programme, I was able to truly make an impact that made me feel as though I had made another family in my life’s journey. Each and everyone played a crucial role in moulding me into a better person and engineer.

Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS)
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my MSc in Sociology programme since Day 1, mainly due to the incredible diversity in disciplines that I’ve been exposed to – things I hadn’t previously encountered in my Bachelor’s, I’ve been thrust into in my Master’s. To see all these different disciplines, interact has been exciting, to say the least!
